PROBLEM:

hospitalhallway

Hospitals and nursing homes play a vital role in our society yet are constantly required to "do more with less."  Decreasing reimbursements and increasing regulations make managing these type of facilities a real challenge.  It is more important today than ever before that all health care institutions properly manage expenses and reduce waste!

One area often overlooked is the problems caused by excess humidity.  For instance, Food Services waste stored fruits and vegetables due to excessive decay and trim loss caused by excess humidity and ethylene gas.  In walk-in freezers, excess humidity creates excessive ice buildup, increased compressor runtime and excessive defrosts cycles and wasted energy.

HACCP regulations and USDA Food Storage guidelines state that humidity must be controlled throughout the storage period. This includes refrigeration as well as dry storage areas. Significant time and effort is required to monitor and record temperatures and operating conditions (but humidity measurements have been ignored.)  Even with all this effort, coolers and freezers do fail and cause major food loss.

In the Plant Operations, energy is also wasted trying to "super cool" indoor air containing excess humidity.  Moisture in the air is called "latent heat" and causes units to work harder.  Remove this latent load and this leaves the "sensible" load to be returned to the air conditioning equipment. The results are better efficiency, less wear and tear, and less energy demands.

Excess humidity in indoor air also harbors harmful bacteria and odors, creating real issues for Infection Control personnel.  Microscope moisture vapors are one way allergens, bacterium and odors are transported.

These issues affecting indoor air quality, energy, food quality and safety maybe minor ones (or even unnoticeable) but ARE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS to a facility not operating as efficiently and as safely as it is capable of doing.

SOLUTION:

We offer a simple, affordable and effective solution to controlling excess indoor humidity.
